Places of Interest
- The mysterious caverns of
Castleton, famous for Blue John stones
- Buxton with its renowned opera
house
- Chatsworth Estate - the
magnificent stately home of the Dukes of Devonshire, with
its beautiful gardens and deer park
- The pretty village of Eyam
has fine examples of old buildings, including Eyam Hall dating
from 1676. It was here that the plague killed 287 out
of 350 villagers in 1665/66
- Hathersage, another lovely
village was the setting for Charlotte Bronte's "Jane
Eyre" and is the burial place of Little John, of
Robin Hood fame
- Bakewell is a picturesque
market town which holds a livestock market every
Monday. The town is of course the home of the famous Bakewell
Pudding which originated here

Walking
The Bulls
Head is fortunate in having a myriad of circular walks that can be
embarked upon from the door, or the less energetic may wish to simply take
a stroll around this delightful
village, possibly stopping to feed the
ducks on the pond, or to inspect the village well

Gliding
From the
high escarpment behind the village you can either walk or drive the
short distance to enjoy the spectacle of gliders taking off and landing
at the Derbyshire and Lancashire Gliding
Club. On a fine summers
day this is an ideal location to take a picnic and relax while enjoying
uninterrupted views towards the far horizon, amid aerobatic displays by
these graceful aircraft |
