Hi My mother and I ate for a week at your pub a couple of weeks ago. I just wish to thank you so much for your kind hospitality. The food was fantastic, as were your two delightful West Highland Terriers. I have got back to NZ, found a good breeder, and have a puppy on order, so thank you. Hope that Jack and Holly are well, and again, thank you for the chats, and wonderful stories. We really enjoyed meeting you all. Kindest Regards Beth Bailey (The booking was under the name Gladwell)
Enjoyed a great meal last night, accommodated 10 at short notice , very helpful staff.

We stayed for two nights and wish we could have stayed for more. Anyone looking for a spotlessly clean room, fantastic food and a very warm welcome from Jonathan and all his very friendly staff need look no further. Can't recommend it highly enough. We'll definitely be back

My husband booked room 3 as surprise over Christmas. WOW what a surprise..../ The room was very spacious with a large bathroom equipped with everything you need including bath robes. The bedroom itself was immaculate throughout with a comfy sofa to rest my short weary legs after a long walk and a four poster bed to snuggle up in for a goods nights sleep. We have eaten in this picturesque pub on many occasions whilst visiting the Peak District. Words cannot express how good the food is, only your taste buds can decide so give it a try you will not be disappointed, there is something for everyone on the menu to enjoy. On arrival you will either be greeted with open arms from the staff who are all friendly and pleasant or wagging tails from the two dogs. Thanks for a lovely stay
Regards, Karen Daniels
Thank you for a most enjoyable stay. Lovely setting, atmosphere, food, old English bar, excellent overnight accommodation.
Perfect in every sense - a very warm welcome, great food and accommodation. We loved that our dogs could share our stay too! The surrounding countryside is absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed walking to Eyam and Stoney Middleton - the pub is situated just perfectly if you like getting out and about. Thank you Jonathon and staff

I am writing to say what a wonderful holiday we had at your hotel last week. Please pass on our appreciation to your mother and all the staff who were superb. We all (including Rufus) were made to feel so welcome.
I hope you had as good a time on your short break in the Isle of Man. You certainly deserved it as you worked so hard so that everything worked as well as it did!
From Carol and Paul Hansford and, of course, Rufus
Our walking group visited on Tuesday, special Steak Night, the welcome from Johnny and the staff, the delicious food and the service we received persuaded us to return on Wednesday, special Chicken Night. Well done, great beer, food, service and hospitality, look forward to returning in the future.
We have recently returned home after spending a couple of nights away on a short break. We had a lovely time and our room was very comfortable indeed which was great after a long days walking around the area (there is a great circular walk of about 10 miles that you can start from the outside the door of The Bulls Head to Bretton Clough, Eyam Moor and Eyam). The food was the real showpiece and we had two great evening meals the best of which was the Beef Wellington really yummy - the breakfasts where really good as well for those who stay. Great range of beers, wines, spirits etc which should accommodate everyone's tastes. Great service, great atmosphere and very welcoming, friendly and attentive staff. Hopefully we will get another visit in soon!

last Thursday we went out for a drive and stumbled across this fantastic pub/ restaurant. From the moment we walked in I knew that we were onto a winner, the front of house was one of the best we had come across and when I asked if there was a room available he answered by saying that he could get us one, of which he did at the Housley Cottage. which was also amazing with the best home cooked breakfast. we live near Ripley in Derbyshire and had just decided to venture out on a lovely night and grab a meal, the food was fantastic, so was the service and the beer. we will be going again for sure. thank you for a super night.. in the bulls
I am writing to give a big thank you to all who served us at our family reunion last Saturday evening. We all had a wonderful get together and the food and service were excellent. Everybody was friendly and made us most welcome. What really impressed us was that everyone, all sixteen of us, received our main meal at the same time. That was really excellent.
Hope to see you again next year.

Superb Sunday lunch today preceded by a stunning circular walk around Foolow. The Landlord was extremely accommodating as there was 12 of us. The service was efficient without being rushed and the food was delicious. Sunday Roast comes with a free dessert which was an unexpected bonus! Many thanks,
Really enjoyed our couple of days with you. The room was very clean, the food excellent and the staff very helpful. We ill definitely stay again when we are in the area.
Two very enjoyable evenings spent at the Bull's Head Friday and Saturday just gone. Welcome was warm and friendly, food was delicious. Live music Friday night was great. To be able to bring our cocker spaniel Danny in with us was an extra bonus. Would certainly recommend a visit. Look forward to our next visit and hope to stay in one of the comfortable looking rooms.
Well what a fantastic place to stay! The room was spotlessly clean with an excellent en-suite bathroom & Comfy bed and a warm cosy feel. The bar was friendly with a very relaxed feel to it and i have to say excellently run with a great choice of Beers and Malts on offer. First time trying the 'Monkey Shoulder' whiskey last night which was a fantastic blended malt! The Dinner menu was varied & extensive and the food was absolutely fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyable starter, main course & sweet. Breakfast was perfect and set us up for an exhaustive days walk around the Derwent valley reservoirs. Without doubt we will definitely be staying here again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in relaxing surroundings with friendly people and fantastic food!
Online booking went fine no problems, a great welcome from the staff and willingness to make the stay very good. The food was excellant and to a high standard, good menu for supper and breakfast was well served. All in all a very good place to stay in very beautiful surroundings
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay. A nice room, a great choice of evening meals from the specials board and a lovely breakfast including porridge! Never been to Foolow before but it is an ideal base for local walks. Thank you

Fantastic accommodation. Food was excellent as was selection of ales and wines available. Landlord most accommodating and we will definitely be returning. Breakfast was also to die for. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.
Four of us stayed this weekend as friends were having a wedding celebration here. Our room was lovely and spacious with a wonderfully comfortable four-poster bed. We ate all our meals in the restaurant and they were excellent from a generous breakfast to delicious dinners (one of the best fish pies I've eaten and plenty of lovely freshly cooked vegetables). The welcome was really friendly and Jonathan went out of his way to be accommodating and helpful. The surrounding area of course is stunning and we would definitely hope to come back again soon to the Bull's Head..
We had a lovely stay at the Bulls Head. The accommodation was very comfortable and cosy, everything you needed. The staff were warm and welcoming and a good sense of humour! The food was great with a very wide choice. The village of Foolow is very quaint with fantastic walks around the areas.

Date - Saturday 18 August Foolow - The Bulls head Inn. Returning from Cheshire we need an evening meal and called in on spec. It was a busy evening service with no apparent free tables, we were greeted by the proprietor and with a little judicious juggling a table for 2 was found. Nothing was too much trouble. There’s a wide ranging menu with something for everyone and a good price range to suite most pockets. Main course Shoulder of Lamb served with fresh vegetables Roast Belly Pork served with fresh vegetables followed by Ice cream Apple Tart and ice cream Coffee and Chocolates. The service was excellent; the staff were attentive but not intrusive, The main courses were invitingly presented and cooked to perfection. If you’re only planning one visit the Peak District then get to Bulls Head Inn at Foolow, you’ll be assured of a fine welcome with excellent food in interesting surroundings.

Super night to celebrate birthdays at our favourite super pub! The senior landlady was rather taken with Halls Carpets but kindly loaned her vehicle for our complimentary lift home by the landlord - greatly appreciated by all - thank you. These points may earn you a free future piano tuning!

We came from The Netherlands and stayed 3 weeks in Foolow (June 2012), a nice place for a holiday, just in between Dark and White Peak. The first evening we went to The Bull for a meal. Afterwards there was no discussion: This is the place where we shal have our dinners these weeks. We did so and have it appreciated every evening. Our advice: Do the same!

I recently stayed at The Bulls Head with friends (June 2012) and really enjoyed the experience. The location is wonderful. The rooms are well equipped and clean, the breakfast is very good and the restaurant food is also excellent, we all considered it very good value. I would recommend it to anyone.

stayed opposite to pub and what a result, always has something going on, good food, friendly people (inc landlord) hendricks gin to keep wife happy. even told us best place to get fish & chips on friday even though they do that too. Bloody good draught guinness as well. Shame its shut on mondays but makes tuesday a day to look forward to. Pity we live in kent as if nearer would def be our local. Hope jonathan makes a fortune here as this is what every pub should be like. High praise from both of us, will def call in again when next in peak district. Thanks from us both Bill and Wendy.
Thanks for your hospitality last week. We loved it. The belly pork is one of the best meals I have had in years., You have a really good thing going there.Shame we are 230 od miles away!!

We had the pleasure of eating in your delightful restaurant twice last week. The food was superb , atmosphere great and the landlord very friendly . What more could you ask for. 5 STAR in my opinion.

Last evening my husband and other members of his family along with myself visited your restaurant. It had been highly recommended by a colleague.Although we travelled for an hour to get to your premises it was well worth it. We had a very friendly welcome by all staff and the food was excellent. We did not have to wait long once we had ordered. There was plenty of choice on the menu and it came nice and hot. There was a good variety of fresh vegetables cooked to perfection. We did not feel pressured to leave our table and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I will passing our comments onto our friends and we look forward to our next visit.
came for a senior citizens lunch last week and thoroughly enjoyed it,the lambs liver just melted in my mouth and my husband loved the home made bread and butter pudding(which he never gets at home).thankyou,we'll be returning again, with friends next time.
I had a fabulous evening in the Bull Head, I was on my own but I certainly didn't feel lonely as all the staff bothered to make me feel welcome - even joined the quiz which was great fun! Thanks for your hospitaility.
“My husband and I recently stayed at the Bulls Head for two nights during our personal "heritage tour" of England and Scotland (his great great grandfather was from nearby Eyam, the "Plague Village”)...The Bulls Head was completely charming, a very old inn, situated in a lovely little village. ..The room and ensuite bathroom were very nice, roomy and clean. We ate a delicious dinner the first night in the quaint dining room and after a very restful sleep, were served the most plentiful, delicious breakfast of our entire two week trip of England and Scotland. ..We really could not believe the size and quality of this breakfast, everything was delicious...it became the standard for all other breakfasts, which by comparison were lacking....The Bulls Head is definitely THE place to stay if you are visiting this part of England. You will not be disappointed with its quaint ambience, beautiful pub and dining room, and wonderful local food. “ Kim from Florida.
“Well above average pub accommodation with traditional feel.
Two stressed teachers in October half term. My partner wanted me to find a traditional pub with very comfortable rooms in a good walking location with an interesting menu. This ticked all the boxes. Perfect!”
Likes:“Very friendly and unpretentious”.

"Excellent hospitality and food"
Visiting Peak District for some days in the beginning of autumn. We prolonged our stay an extra day to enjoy the place”
Likes:“That it is a genuine village inn. Host and staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had no idea that English food could be so good, when it is made the right way!”

“What a find! We had the most wonderful meal - I was really impressed with the fact that the menu had good old fashioned British food on it - rabbit casserole, oxtail in Guiness, calves liver etc. The wine list was good and inexpensive... and the choice of whiskies was the best I've seen outside of Scotland. We had a lovely comfortable room, breakfast was hearty and the hosts were charming - I would recommend this wonderful pub to anyone without caution!” Victoria Carter.
We stayed at the Bulls Head Inn for 3 nights in October 2011 and we loved everything about it. We arrived at about 2:30 pm in the afternoon and were shown to our room which was large by U.K standards and very comfortable. The village is really small and gorgeous , but not far from the main road (about 5 minutes drive) .
We ate in the pub every night and the staff there reserved a table for us even without us asking. The food was outstanding and the staff always friendly . The service was just fantastic. The pub is not on a main road and so there is no traffic noise to keep you awake at nights . We had a terrific sleep there . In the morning breakfast was served in the dining room at 8:30 am . Breakfast was full English or continental or pretty much a mix and match of what you wanted off the menu . It was a really good breakfast all freshly cooked and piping hot . A great start to any day for sure.
Although they do not advertise WiFi , the landlord gave us a password to use it. There was no signal in the room so we had to go out in the corridor to use it or down into the restaurant . We would recommend that the owners install a WiFi system that can be used anywhere considering the low cost today. WiFi is available just about anywhere in this day and age so that this would be a really good addition .
All together we had a wonderful stay here and would not hesitate for a second to recommend this inn to our friends and family . We know what we are talking about too because we are in the hospitality business in Canada and are very particular. If it is good for us then it simply is good.
Do not hesitate to stay here because it really is very good , friendly , efficient and good food
