Walks around Foolow

Foolow is an ideal place to start and finish a walk.  Good parking for visitors and a friendly pub that welcomes walkers.  The geography and geology around Foolow makes the walking particularly varied and interesting as the junction of the limestone and gritstone is only a few hundred yards north of the village.  Each type of rock brings with it different features on the land and different types of vegetation. (Gritstone moors of Eyam and Abney are described as well as limestone dales).

We stock a booklet describing a range of walks from the village, all starting and finishing outside the Bulls Head, so you have no excuse not to call in for a drink at the end of the day.  The walks include some suitable for a summer evening, whilst others are full days.

If you would to try out something more adventurous, or just have a local to lead you around some of the walks, why not contact Mike or Jane who have written the walking guide and live next door to the Bulls Head; Mike is a qualified International Mountain Leader, and leads walks for the Peak District Walking Festival.  The first walk in the booklet 'A short Walk around Foolow' can be freely downloaded from their website.  http://mountain-house.co.uk/foolow_walks/
